- Melinda M. Sorensson
- I was born in Manila, Philippines, and was raised on a farm forty miles south of Manila. My ancestors were Chinese, Filipino and Spanish. I went to the University of the Philippines and obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering, and then I went to Hawaii to go to graduate school. I obtained a degree in Biochemistry at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and did my postdoctorate at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California. I taught Biochemistry and General Chemistry classes for several years.
